Let the Summer Begin!

With the Memorial Day Weekend, Sweet Baby K kicked off the summer at the Utica Ice Cream Festival.  We enjoyed the heat of the weekend in the sea of tents, enjoying ice cream and getting to meet so many local customers. I just love seeing the eyes of the children and adults light up with my creations!

I expanded my products this year to include some items for boys and older girls too! If you were able to visit you were able to find bottle cap necklaces, crayon roll-ups, car keeper roll-ups, humbug bags, fancy flip flops and a variety of new headband styles.

If you weren't able to make it out to the festival don't be sad! I will be at The Heart of Ohio Days Festival located in Centerburg, Ohio. This will so much fun with food, carnival rides and best thing...It's FREE!! That's right, free admission, free parking! So be sure to come over and visit. The dates are the evenings of June 23, 24, and 25, then all day Saturday, June 26.

I'm looking for other events for the fall so if you have suggestions please let me know!

Here's the line up:

Everyone has to start somewhere

Hrm...I'm kind of wondering what in the WORLD am I doing?!  Do I REALLY need something else added to my list of projects! Of course! So welcome to the world of Sweet Baby K's.

Let's just start with history...I am the mother to 4. My stepsons are 13 and 10 and my boy C is going to 5 in April, then comes the whole reason Sweet Baby K's exists...K just turned 3.

I've always had busy hands and a busy mind, I know I got the creative bug honestly, my mother is a wonderful seamstress and through the years always had some of kind of project from decorating cakes to sewing clothes for my sister and I.

Sweet Baby K's grew with the birth of my daughter, the only girl and I was aggrevated the headbands purchased at the department stores left horrible marks on her little newborn head. I really didn't grow the bow making bug until she was closing in on her first birthday and I wanted something to match. Taking inspirations from a fellow mommy I started learning. I sold a little to friends a family at first but I really found my love of doing different craft shows. I'm embarrassed to say the first couple you could tell I was totally green but I have come so far. I am a store in the midst of white tents. I offer a wide variety of items trying to have something for everyone that may venture in. Infant headbands and clippies, larger bows and novelty clippies, hair flowers, headbands both stretch and headbands woven with a variety of ribbon. I also have the crochet beanies that are the rage both for infants and the larger size that fit toddlers to adults. Last year I added Fancy Flip Flops and keychains.

Before: Utica Homecoming Festival 2008

Now: Centerburg Old Time Farming Festival September 2009

Then the last show of the season at Gambier Craft Sale 2009:

So what are my plans for this year? As I said in the beginning, like I need another project! I'm making crayon rolls and car keeper rolls, bottlecap necklaces, and pacific keepers. I was told many times last season, "I wish you carried something for boys". This did not fall on deaf ears! So I'm excited and have been practicing my sewing skills the last few weeks.

I am hoping every few days or once a week to let everyone know what I'm working on and expand from there!
